Create bootable Windows Vista on USB Drive

So just HOW do you install Windows to a netbook or when an optical drive is shot?Why off your USB drive of course!

Here is a walkthrough – make SURE you pay attention to all the details or you could wipe out your system!!!!

A. Format the USB flash memory drive to FAT32 file system. Run CMD.EXE and type the following commands.  The numbers are there ONLY so you can keep track of where you’re at – do NOT type in the numbers.

Note: This set of commands assumes that the USB flash drive is addressed as “disk 1”. Double check that by doing a list of the disks (type “list disk”) before cleaning it).

    1. diskpart
    2. select disk 1
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

B. Copy Windows Vista’s DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive Type in following command to start copying all the content from the Windows Vista DVD to your newly formatted high speed flash drive.

* xcopy d:*.* /s/e/f e:
